Special Senate Bill 25 will reclassify tires as a source of renewable energy. This would enable any company in PA that uses tires to create energy to sell the energy they produce directly to local businesses. Without the reclassification they would only be able to sell any electricity produced to the GRID.
There are Tire-Derived-Fuel (TDF) Companies/Plants in many states in the continental United States.
What you think of the idea of reclassifying tires as a source of renewable energy?

TDF is not a renewable energy. TDF burns a valuable commodity as an alternative to coal.
The value of the material in tires is over 10 times that of just the energy. For example, the oil out of tires alone is worth over 10 times the value of tdf more as oil.
TDF is a nessesary evil as it is arguably better than land filling, but as more and more real reuse alternative for scrap tires come online, such as pyrolysis and crumb, TDF should be discouraged, not encouraged.
I am all for (TDF) because we need to stop loading landfills with old tires and having huge piles of tires stacked up in rural areas of the country side to litter, pollute, and have the opertunity to accidently catch fire and pollute the earth even more. We have been told that a renewable energy plant using TDF omits or produces little to no waste and air pollutes. Another issue is the growing demand for electricity and alternate fuels. It would be great to have an industry back in our area which makes so much good sence all the way around and also be built and maintained with a PLA to hire local skilled people from working families in northwest PA.
